Bell Peppers
THE CHALLENGES OF TRANSPORTING BELL PEPERS
Bell Peppers are very susceptible to decay, softening, and wrinkling of the outer skin.
They are very susceptible botrytis and grey mold decay which can easily spread from fruit-to-fruit. Traditional treatment includes fungicide application.
Bell Peppers are non-climacteric, and respond very little to ethylene, but surface and airborne bacteria and mold can accelerate their deterioration rate, and decay incidence.
Temperature management has a signifi- cant effect on bell pepper market life and they are chill-sensitive.
